Hey girls!
So i have not actually been on here at all since we made it and i feel quite bad about that, but ive been having a verryyy busy summer! Probably one of the most busiest ive ever had. Nashville was quite amazing! Nothing like New Orleans!
It
turns out that the VBS we thought we would do was in a government-run recreation
center. We were not aware of this until we arrived, so we were not able to
share the gospel unless the kids asked. But, we all came up with creative ways
to share it. We performed a puppet show using Bible stories and told them they
were true. We, actually, only had Elmo, a rabbit, and a sock as puppets, so
Elmo was Jesus and even died on the cross and arose. It was pretty funny, but
we made it work and hoped God would use it. ;) I, also, had the opportunity to
share the salvation story with two little girls, because we were making
bracelets. I put the salvation colors on mine and they asked why. I was not
able to lead them to Christ, but I thank God that I had the opportunity to
share about Christ with them. Other than the VBS every morning, we
spent two hours in worship every night, which was an incredible experience and I learned so much. I
put together a video of the trip, which is on “YouTube”, if you’d like to see
it. It’s called “FSM United 2012” :)
So for the chapter of the week!
"Lord, Help Me Be Safe"
This chapter was quite short and to the point. Everyone has concerns about safety. She talks about a story where she skidded on black ice on a narrow 2 lane highway! She was praying so hard throughout the whole thing for God to help her be safe. & she was in Gods hands and it was awesome that nothing happened to her or anyone else! Its always an important thing to remember to pray for yours, and other peoples safety. Here was one sentence i liked: "In those precarious moments, when your future is hanging in the balance, you want the confidence of knowing you have been communicating with your heavenly Father all along and he has his eye on you." I have personally experienced answers to prayer about my safety. I'm sure all of us have! I don't necessarily have a specific story but God has kept me safe though all things, cause i mean hey, im still alive right? ;) God looks out for us more than we realize and It is important to remember to thank God for keeping you safe throughout things in life. :)
Great job, Amy!! It amazes me that God extends grace to us every day even to little things like safety. He's good!
ReplyDeleteAmy,
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing about Nashville. It must have been a stretch to do a mission where you cannot talk about Christ. Yikes. But it does sound like it was a good trip. I watched the video which really helped me to see what the trip was all about. I am so glad you were able to go and that your were able to share the salvation story with those 2 girls. YOu never know how the Lord will use that in their lives. It is amazing how the Lord can even use Elmo, as himself, to share the gospel.
Thanks for the report on the Chapter. I have not read it yet but praying for safety is certainly one prayer I pray often. We take it for granted when we are spared injury when we need to really look to the Lord and thank Him for the way he spares us from harm.
Great job amy! I haven't been on very much either....*gulp* but I am on now and plan to read every post I missed! Might take me a while. ;)
ReplyDeleteNever under estimate the power of prayer. God is in control, and he wants us to come to Him with our safety and others. He is always listening, and good to answer our prayers. Might not be the answer we want, but He will answer. :) and God had definately blessed us with His protection. We are so blessed to live in America. :)
Thank you Amy! That is amazing how you couldn't share the Gospel at the VBS but were still able to find ways to get around that :) Sounds like God definitely moved in y'all and showed y'all how to be creative :)
ReplyDeleteI can recount numerous times when God protected me or my family or someone else I know from being hurt! We all want to be safe and without pain, and yes we definitely need to pray about it, but i also have to remember that sometimes God allows bad things to happen to us to shape our character and draw us closer to Him. Everything happens for a reason <3
Incredible, Amy! That's so cool how you had to improvise with the puppets but you said God could still use them. That's so true but a lot of people overlook that. And in spite of the fact that you couldn't initiate conversations, you still got to share the gospel with a girl. :) God is good!
